Interview with J. C. Matthews, former president of North Texas State College and North Texas State University, concerning his early childhood and adolescence, his early teaching experiences, his time as a student at North Texas State Normal College during the 1920s, his appointment as a teacher in the college Laboratory School, and his time as the principal of the college Laboratory School. Matthews also discusses the curriculum committee of the State Department of Education, his term as dean of the College of Education, curriculum planning in the College of Education, the Southern Study, and the desegregation of North Texas State College in 1955.
